JRNRVU was started to fulfill the basic need of the areas to provide elementary education. The Institute of learning was lighted for life as an educational venture with the objective of imparting sound and purposeful education-physical, intellectual social- on a sound footing of democratic, moral, ethical and spiritual values to boys and girls of all communities, irrespective of their castes and religions with a missionary zeal.

The Vidyapeeth took a lead to educate Adults of the region during the Pre-Independence period. Still Vidyapeeth is maintaining its institution of basic education with network of more than fifty institutions spreading all over Rajasthan particularly in areas of Southern Rajasthan.

Vidyapeeth covers almost all aspects of India Education such as Primary, Middle Secondary Education as well as Adult, Community Education. Beside this, the elementary education centres also organize Workshops, Training Programmes for Development of Cottage Industries, Social Awareness Programmes, etc. These institutions have come forward to maintain the spirit of its founder.

Vidyapeeth initiated programmes from the beginning aimed at the revival of cultural traditions by emphasizing our glorious past, strengthening of democratic system (through its Panchayat Centres) and educating the adults, and of course, the workers, To achieve this mission, the institution took up the task of continuing education and that imparting education to those who worked during the day time and, therefore, owing to the paucity of time were not able to enhance there education, continuing education programmes, Night College, Alternative Education ( The is education beyond the classroom) were some of the major initiatives taken to realize its goals and objectives. These unique and innovative ideas were not more than mere dreams in the contemporary times. The institute succeeded in executing these ideas and thereby producing ideal citizens for the country. Since then the institution has covered multifarious aspects of education.

In recognition of its services in the field of education, especially that for the economically poor, adult, rural and the deprived strata of society, the Vidyapeeth has been honoured by some prestigious awards including Nehru Literacy Award, Lok Culture & Art Award, FICCI Award and National Child Development Award amongst others.
